Custom Block Policy Rules in v4.5+

Postby Nick » Wed May 28, 2014 12:59 pm

In CryptoPrevent v4.5 I introduced a new option to create your own custom block policy rules.

1. Use the Options menu at the top, and then Create Custom Block Policy.
2. Heed the warning and proceed.
3. Enter your block policy rule using the appropriate syntax.
4. Click OK and OK, then restart your PC and manually test.

Appropriate Syntax: Any standard path and filename, or filename only. The only wildcard that is supported is the * asterisks. See below for some syntax examples.

Block all files named "somefile.exe" anywhere in the file system:
Code: Select all
somefile.exe

Block all executables in a certain folder inside Program Files:
Code: Select all
%programfiles%\Foo Company\Bar Software\*.exe

Block any executable with the word "toolbar" in the file name that appears in any second-level subdirectory of %programfiles%:
Code: Select all
%programfiles%\*\*toolbar*.*

Editor/Viewer: There is currently no custom policy 'editor' or any way to view a custom policy rule that you create after it has been created.

Removal: The only way to remove any custom policy rules is to use the UNDO function of CryptoPrevent, then re-apply protection as desired.

Scripting: (v4.5.1+) Use /b=[Your Block Rule Syntax Here] See examples below:

Create three block rules on a single line:
Code: Select all
cryptoprevent.exe /u=somefile.exe /u=%programfiles%\Foo Company\Bar Software\*.exe /u=%programfiles%\*\*toolbar*.*

Wow! We were just talking about this... I thought this was on the back burner. Great one, Nick! Lovin' the new D7. The speed is the major factor for me. I have a lot to catch up on too as well. Thanks again!
