Bulk installed .EXE. Is CryptoPrevent running?

Postby NewVillageIT » Fri Apr 24, 2015 2:14 pm

Update 4/24/15 3:57:13 PM

CryptoPreventTestCLI works on the original client I installed the bulk cfg on. I do get the event 866 and receive the relevant email.

But, it doesn't seem to work (see Original Post) when I run it on clients I installed CP on using the bulk cfg. I don't get the event 866 and relevant email.

Please help...

To address my issue below, I think I can use CryptoPreventTestCLI.exe from the zip download here: http://www.foolishit.com/vb6-projects/c ... -portable/

Am I correct?

Original Post:

I have a bulk .exe installed to clients via PDQDeploy. My PDQDeploy package settings are:

Install file: \\server\share\CryptoPreventBulkSetup.exe
Parameters: /verysilent /noreboot
Command line: CryptoPreventBulkSetup.exe /verysilent /noreboot

PDQDeploy reports the installs were successful.

When I check a client, it doesn't show any type of CryptoPrevent program in the Add/Remove Programs. Also, no type of CryptoPrevent service is running.

Is CryptoPrevent installed and or running?

If there is no service, how can I verify this? I see on http://www.foolishit.com/vb6-projects/c ... formation/ that it says "CryptoPrevent artificially implants group policy objects into the registry..." What keys?

In the bulk cfg, I enabled email alerts.
But, per the FAQ, section "How can I tell if CryptoPrevent is running?", "...if using v4 with email alerts enabled, a monitoring service will be running..." If it's running, what is the name?

Or, do I need an alternative to PDQDeploy?

PDQDeploy should work for installs. You may need to check the license count on your bulk installer. It will show as installed but won't actually install if it checks the server and finds there are no installs remaining. You should have a link to the check license tool and product key tied to the installer.

Thanks for the reply, bored.

I just ran CPBulkLicCheck.exe. It returns: KEY / 88

Should I reply to the email you sent me for support?
