Report After dM Runs

Postby windycty » Fri Aug 08, 2014 3:58 pm

Nick,

I was wondering if there is an option in dM (free) that would change the default reporting after it runs?

The report pops-up on a Comcast web site within their browser.

I have to close it down and start-up Firefox, which dM closed down while running. Since my Firefox is sandboxed, it takes a while to come back up.

Anyway to change this default?

Thanks so much.

Great product, BTW, as I mentioned before... :D

windy, the browser used by dM should be the default browser registered in the system to launch HTML files. It may not be the same default browser that launches http:// links, but it is for launching local HTML files as this is what the report is. You see this sometimes as some browsers take over that file association while others do not and leave local HTML file support to IE or whatever the existing system default is. Perhaps this also depends on custom installation options if available in that browser's installer.

A google search for "change default program for html files" no quotes will turn up a bunch of results on how to change the default application used to launch your HTML files or other file types, and you can use that info to select firefox.exe as the default HTML registered file handler.

Nick, thanks so much...

Firefox is already the default to open HTML and all related documents - I want to know how I end up on a Comcast web site when the report pops up?

I ran dM again before I replied just to see, it looks like a Firefox browser, but it's not my configuration, not even close to my configuration. I also compared Comcast home pages, the one I end on after dM runs and just typing in Comcast.com. They also don't look completely different.

And, I have Firefox sandboxed with a specific home page. Even if Firefox opened un-sandboxed, which I would have to invoke manually, it would look like my sandboxed configuration, same home page.

I have never had an issue like this.

This bothers me that I am being re-directed to a 3rd. party web site without any control...

Thanks.

it is a browser configuration issue where it is probably opening a default homepage in a default profile every time the browser is started.

dM only opens the local HTML file in the default browser for local HTML files, but it has no control over what software is registered on your system as the default file handler for those files, or otherwise how that software is configured.

Changed the default in Firefox options to use Firefox, I'll see how that plays...
