Windows 8 post-removal issues

Postby davidogg » Thu Sep 05, 2013 4:03 pm

Win8 machine (non-pro, so no gpedit.msc)

bad proxy set, couldn't undo through internet properties->connections due to policy(?)
D7 remove policies didn't work, but D7 remove proxy fixed the issue except for
"some settings are managed by your system administrator" (at the bottom of the "connections" tab, and only there)

any ideas? the normal fixes for Win7/IE arn't working in Win8

What registry looks like:
Computer\HKLM\Software\policies\microsoft\internet Explorer\Control panel
Auto Config = Dword 1
proxy = Dword 0

Computer\HKLM\Software\policies\microsoft\windows\current version\internet settings
proxysettingsperuser = dword 1

Anyone run into this yet? I have 3 machines with this issue.

I don't have that key at all. The entire Internet Explorer key from software\policies\microsoft is not on my machine.

I don't have the proxysettingsperuser value at all in my reg either.

If you were saying the machines had these settings I would just delete them and see what happens, make a backup first just in case.

I know I need to re-evaluate my policy removal routines in d7 for Windows 8, and it is going on the to-do list.
